EDITOR,
While visiting family in Squamish for Thanksgiving this year, my brother-in-law, Barclay, took us to the proposed site of the walkway at Blind Channel. With one glance at its beautiful surroundings, I knew it was hidden treasure! The site closely resembles my native Havre de Grace, Maryland, where a one-kilometre promenade has changed an industrial eyesore along the Susquehanna River, a tributary of Chesapeake Bay, into a huge economic and recreational success. People drive from miles away to admire and stroll the promenade along the water's edge and while there, enjoy the many restaurants and shops that have been built as a result. In fact, it's ranked the no. 1 attraction in the area by Trip Advisor.
I hope the good people of Squamish will embrace this unique opportunity and enjoy all benefits it will bring.
