A principled choice

EDITOR, I am writing this letter in reply to Chris Joseph's letter to the editor dated May 16 ("Splitting the green vote"). Please do not presume to think you know why I and many others voted for the Green Party.

EDITOR,

I am writing this letter in reply to Chris Joseph's letter to the editor dated May 16 ("Splitting the green vote").

Please do not presume to think you know why I and many others voted for the Green Party. I do not believe that electing the NDP would have been in the "broader public interest." In fact, the NDP would have been the last party I would have voted for. I was considering spoiling my ballot because I am disgusted with the way party politics have evolved in Canada. I would most definitely not have voted for the NDP or the Liberals. After attending the all-candidates meeting in Squamish, I was impressed with Mr. Warrington. I spent some time researching him and the B.C. Green Party. I made my decision based on this. We live in a democracy and all of us should vote according to our individual conscience. Please do not try to restrict my right to vote for whom I please or question my choice, no matter what my reasons. Do not ask me to compromise my principles to support your beliefs.
