Take in the accoustic Bluegrass Jam at the Brackendale Art Gallery on Sunday (Sept. 5) from 7:30 to 10 p.m. Rita Kyle and her musical buddies will keep you entertained and you are also invited to participate, too. There is no charge and food and beverages are also available.

The Squamish Valley Quilters Guild will hold their next gathering on Wednesday (Sept. 8) at 6:45 p.m. in the Mountain Retreat Hotel (in the Industrial Park) upstairs in the conference room. Newcomers to town, or anyone interested is asked to attend or phone 604-898-9240 for more information.

The WOW riders will meet at Canadian Tire at 10 a.m. on Monday (Sept. 6) for a ride through Tantalus to Brackendale. For more information, please call Shirley at 604-898-5715.

Information on Alzheimer's disease and related dementias, communication strategies, understanding changes in behaviour, future planning, advocacy, and taking care of yourself will be offered on four Saturdays beginning Sept. 18 from 9:30 am to noon at the Squamish Seniors Centre, 1201 Village Green Way. The Women's Auxiliary to Squamish General Hospital will be selling raffle tickets at the Brackendale Fall Fair on Saturday, Sept. 11. The first prize is a beautiful queen-sized quilt. It was made and donated to the Auxiliary by the Ladies of the Lake, who have generously supported them with these quilts in the past. Tickets are three for $5.

On Tuesday (Sept. 7) the Over the Hill Hikers will meet at Ross and Government Roads at 9 p.m. for a Madeley Lake hike. Call Heather at 604-892-9003 if you wish more information.

The next bus trip for seniors will be on Wednesday, Sept. 22 to the Coquitlam Casino or a trip to Burnaby Mountain for a walk-about. Call to Elaine at 604-898-5463 will secure a seat for you.

A talk and meditation with Western Buddhist Nun Gen Kelsang Delek is planned at the Squamish Public Library on Thursday (Sept. 9) at 7:30 p.m. This is a free workshop and everyone is invited.

The Hilltop House Support Society will meet in the old activity wing on Thursday (Sept. 9) at 9:30 a.m. There is always room for new members to attend.

The last of the Squamish Estuary introductory walks was much enjoyed and now the group has scheduled a Volunteer Training Day for the Squamish Estuary Education Project for Sunday, Sept. 12. It is not necessary to have participated in the introductory walks to join the volunteer interpreter workshop. There is only another week before the 16th Annual Brackendale Fall Fair is upon us on Saturday, Sept. 11 and it promises to be a good one! Volunteers make the fair successful and if you are able to offer a few hours of your time, please call Dan at 604-892-4271. The Hearts in Motion Walking Club is hoping for a good turnout of members on Friday (Sept. 10) as the representative from the Heart and Stroke Foundation of B.C. and the Yukon, Theresa Tang will be joining us. SteamFest 2010 is set for the West Coast Railway Heritage Park on Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 11 and 12. There is much to see and do including a ride on our famous Royal Hudson.

Story times resume at the Squamish Public Library on Sunday, Sept. 12 with fun, free half-hour story times for babies, toddlers, preschoolers and families.
