An interesting day for all the family is in store during the annual Squamish Airport Community Day on Sunday (Aug. 26) from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. The event includes tours of the airport, airplanes and helicopter rides, a Lions Club food concession, music, face painting and many activities for the kids. Please leave your dogs at home
A warm welcome is extended to all visitors here this weekend for the Live at Squamish music festival. I will not be attending but no doubt I will hear all about it from my granddaughter Laurel Gilmour and three of her girlfriends from Lillooet who will be attending and staying with me.
Seniors are invited to join Kriszti for a variety of great fitness classes designed to help improve mobility, balance and range of motion at the Seniors Centre starting with the first classes on Monday (Aug. 27). Classes are designed for a variety of fitness levels and if you are unsure which level is appropriate, please call Michelle at (604) 898-6883. Plans are underway for the 18th annual Brackendale Fall Fair on Saturday, Sept. 8, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Vendors interested in exhibiting their wares can pick up registration forms at the Brackendale General Store or at All Keys and Locks in downtown Squamish.
The next soup-and-sandwich day at the Seniors Centre is Thursday, Aug. 30, at noon, and there is a draw for those purchasing tickets in advance. Programs next week at the centre include Dance and Stretch on Mondays from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m., Men on the Move on Wednesdays from noon to 1 p.m., Rhythmic Fit Wednesdays from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m., Cardio Fit Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. and Chair Fit on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10:45 to 11:45 a.m. For more information, drop by the centre or call (604) 848-6897.
