Tomorrow (Aug. 27) is your chance to take part in the Squamish Airport Community Day from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. The day includes an aircraft show and shine, search and rescue and Air Cadet displays, airplane and helicopter rides, face painting, games, prizes, music and tasty food at the Lions Club food concession.

Between Shifts Theatre is gearing up for another great presentation for the Christmas season and this year, the much-loved A Christmas Carol. Auditions are being held on Sunday (Aug. 28) from 2 to 4 p.m. and on Tuesday (Aug. 30) from 7 to 9 p.m. in the Sea to Sky Hotel. This Tuesday (Aug. 30) is your last chance to partake of Afternoon Tea and Scones at the Brightbill House at the West Coast Railway Heritage Park from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m.

Hats off to Donna Mason who is the greeter, the server and the baker (along with a few friends) for offering these special teas this month. All money raised is going toward the upkeep of the Brightbill House.

The Summer Reading Club at the Squamish Public Library ended with the awards ceremony held on Wednesday (Aug. 24). Summer reading co-ordinator Kayla Avey said this was the largest enrolment ever with 266 children, ages six to 12, participating. Kayla was ably assisted this summer by Steffi Thomas and Itzia Vriend. All three young ladies will be returning to university in September.

Storytimes at the library have wrapped up for the summer, but will be restarting the week of Sept. 11 with books for babies, toddler time, preschool and family story time. For more information, check the website at www.squamish.bclibrary.ca.

A charity car wash in support of Mental Health and Addictions will be held at the Husky gas station on Cleveland Avenue tomorrow (Aug. 27) from noon to 3 p.m. A minimum donation of $5 is requested.

Seniors are invited to sign up for the Indian Arm lunch cruise planned for Saturday, Sept. 17. For your bus reservations please call Elaine at (604) 898-5463. Note that the date has been changed from Sept. 15.

There is still time for seniors (50 years and up) to register for the first-ever Lawn Bowling Tournament at the greens near the Seniors Centre. It's all happening on Thursday (Sept. 1) at 1 p.m. and to register, drop by the centre or call (604) 848-6898. Also, a reminder to all members that the annual general meeting will be held on Wednesday, Sept. 14, at 1 p.m.

The Canadian Shoreline Cleanup is set for Wednesday, Sept. 14, from 4 to 6 p.m. In our community, the Squamish Estuary has been selected and to register by Wednesday (Aug. 31) go to www.shorelinecleanup.ca or for more information, please contact Kim Stegeman at (604) 892-3511 ext. 304.

The WOW riders are asked to meet at the Adventure Centre before 9 a.m. on Monday (Aug. 29) to carpool to Port Coquitlam and a great trail ride. For more information, call Shirley at (604) 898-5715.

The Acoustic Jam that had been scheduled for Sept. 4 at the Brackendale Art Gallery is not happening in September, but the sessions will resume on Oct. 2. Keep on practicing!

The Over the Hill Hikers are asked to meet at 8 a.m. on Tuesday (Aug. 30) at the corner of Ross and Government Roads for a Brandywine Meadows hike. For more information, call Heather at 604-892-9003.
