I found your article ("Dock divides Furry Creek community," The Chief, Jan. 7) to be a good representation of the facts.
Mr. Buchanan quotes that the fish kill in March 2010 is related to dock activity. What he clearly is not aware of is that the dock only operates from May until October; the dock is only seasonal and therefore is detached and unusable during the winter months (including March). Throughout the winter season, there are no boats in the water in this area!
Mr. Naito from the DFO is correct in mentioning that the construction of the dock was carried out with respect to the environment.
The area surrounding the seasonal dock has never been healthier!
