Bicycle riders! I ride bike every day and see other cyclists riding with their children and not wearing helmets. Some children wear their helmets and some do not.
Parents should show their children a good example and wear theirs too, not just put a helmet on your children and think you are doing right. Strobe lights and bright clothing should be worn, not red or blue or black. Wear bright colours orange and bright green or bright yellow and show the traffic that you are being seen.
Ride on the proper side of the road — go with the traffic, not against the traffic. When you ride towards a bridge like the Mamquam River there are dismount signs in place. Please dismount and walk your bike across and give the walkers a healthy walk across the bridge without someone getting hurt. There is a lot of time.
Some people with children in strollers out for a nice walk are walking across the bridge every day and want to enjoy the pleasure of enjoying the walk , not being bombarded with bikes pushing their way through and not giving any respect.
Please be nice and share the wealth of trails and pathways with your bikes; put a bell on your bike to let people know to stand aside on trails. Thank you for taking the time to read this note and remember, your safety is ours.
