Each year the Hilltop House Support Society (HTHSS) hosts the annual Hilltop House Harvest Tea that also includes a bake table and an in-house raffle. On Saturday (Oct. 19) from 1:30 to 3 p.m. you are invited to visit Hilltop House and partake of delicious homemade pie and coffee/tea for $4. For the bake table, donations of baking or pies would be much appreciated and can be taken to HTH on Saturday morning. Hats off to the volunteer members of the HTHSS and HTH staff who through their efforts help improve the lives of the residents in so many ways.

Big Buddy Book Time is an intergenerational program between the Squamish Seniors Centre and the Squamish Elementary School. The date for the Big Buddy Book Time is Tuesday (Oct. 22) at 2 p.m., when senior volunteers visit and read to students in Grade 1 or 2, one day per month. The Squamish Gardeners will welcome Brad Jalbert, founder of Select Roses in Langley and an internationally known rose breeder, as the speaker at the next meeting on Monday (Oct. 21) at 7 p.m. at the Sandman Inn. Non-members are welcome with a $5 drop-in fee. There will also be an exchange of plants, gardening books and tools before the meeting beginning at 6 p.m. Members are reminded to take along a simple ikebana-type flower arrangement from their garden.
The Mystery of the Magic Pumpkin will unfold during a 40-minute round trip train ride at the West Coast Railway Heritage Park from Thursday, Oct. 24, through Wednesday, Oct. 30. Children will travel with their parents to the magic pumpkin patch and the pumpkin you choose may contain a magic surprise. The cost is $24 per child and the parents ride free of charge. The fun time includes mini-rail rides, games and crafts stations. Trains will run 10:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. on weekdays and 10:30 a.m., 1:30, 6:30 and 7:30 p.m. weekends. The Women's Auxiliary to Squamish General Hospital has its annual Christmas Craft Sale and raffle draw on Nov. 30. Members will sell tickets for the raffle at Nesters Market tomorrow and Saturday (Oct. 18 and 19) and the cash prizes are $300, $200 and $100.
The annual Seniors Health Fair and Flu Immunization is planned at the Squamish Seniors Centre on Wednesday, Oct. 30, from 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. This clinic is free for those 65 years and up, and you are asked to take your Care Card along with you. There will also be many displays and health tips to check out. The Wellness Fair is sponsored by Vancouver Coastal Health and the District of Squamish.

Vancouver Coastal Health in partnership with the District of Squamish is planning a presentation for seniors at the Squamish Manor, 38209 Third Ave., on Wednesday (Oct. 23) at 1 p.m. It will be an opportunity to provide information on programs and services other than what is already available in the community.
