EDITOR,

We, the residents of Olsen Road in Brackendale, currently live and house eight dogs. We are a fully licensed kennel, on agricultural land, situated between two other licensed kennels, train tracks, Highway 99, and numerous houses and condos. After a recent visit from the RCMP about a bylaw infringement regarding barking dogs in the early hours, we feel the need to address the issue of people who wish to live in a semi-rural environment and feel the need to complain to have the environment changed to suit them.

We would like to share a little poem to express the love for our dogs and the natural instinct for them to bark.

Dogs, Trains, and Complainers

When the train goes by,

they howl at the moon.

There's one at six,

and there's one at noon.

But they howl the most,

When a bear goes by.

They would never catch it,

but they'd love to try.

These are working dogs,

they live for the labour.

Not the squeak in the floor,

or the noisy neighbour.

So give 'em a treat,

or throw 'em a bone,

and to all you complainers

leave 'em alone.

P.S. to all those people who think our yards are dog dooey dumping grounds, we are tired of weed whacking our way through dog dumpings. Please bring a bag. They are free and everywhere. We have our own crap to deal with.
