Editor,

Unless a notice is sent to every landowner in Britannia Beach so that all residents have access to all information pertaining to the aforementioned zoning change request, a meeting in Britannia will be one-sided ["Debate continues over drive-through, gas bar for Britannia development," The Chief, July 30].

A new owner was surprised to learn of the deviation from the "Granville Island-style" development that sold them on moving here and investing here.

The BBCA [britanniabeachcommunityassociation] is not the voice of Britannia. The sales people do not use the gas station and White Spot drive through in their sales pitch when selling lots here.

Many years and many people were involved in creating an OCP, which greatly influenced the outcome of development to date. Many forward thinking people.

I, for one, am happy that the place was not bulldozed as some developers wished.

Should we not be more concerned that the old tanks are still in the ground or that there is talk that our taxes are being sought to remediate the flood hazard to the commercial area in town or that access to the foreshore is getting worse by the day?

Wouldn't it be a better draw to our community if we focus on the foreshore rather than a silly gas bar and White Spot garbage on the highway?
