EDITOR,

Thanks to everybody who came out to enjoy Pavilion Park on Canada Day - it was a great community success and the Pavilion is well on the way to becoming an iconic community building! It was also the most beautiful stage for the "Movie in the Park," and it was amazing to share the special place and the special moment with hundreds of our friends, relatives and neighbours.

Our apologies that the film delayed the start of the fireworks - the version of the movie we got was not the one we had selected and it was longer, and a little less upbeat, than we had intended. However, it may have been worth the overkill, as it sounds like most of you learned something from it And it sure didn't ruin your appetite: the lineup was never-ending at our popcorn machine; thanks to Squamish Elementary for sharing it, and to In the Raw Organics for a great deal on organic corn that really pops (we went through over 400 bags of it!). And guess what? Thanks to the recycling/composting stations provided by InBiz Print Signs Design, Lokl.com and Only Green, the entire day resulted in just one single, small bag of waste - yay!

Thanks to the sponsors of the day: Downtown Squamish BIA, District of Squamish, Squamish CAN, Squamish Chamber of Commerce, Heritage Canada, Churchill International Property Corp., Squamish Terminals, Double Shutter Images, and Pro-Spec Productions. Special thanks to Cindy Cardiff for making it all happen, and to the District of Squamish for a wonderful community structure that already makes us proud - now, let's continue to enjoy our downtown!
