What a great weekend for all of Squamish. With the issues last year of the highway traffic resolved, plus doubling the size of this year’s event, I congratulate the organizers for their planning and the volunteers for their execution.
I think we can all say at some level our daily lives were inconvenienced in one manner or another over the weekend – as well as with the set up and tear down of the festival, but if we all take a step back and reflect, who could argue this event is not good for our community and local economy?
Events like these that bring in outside visitors to stay overnight are invaluable to the entire community. The more events like this the better, be it hockey tournaments, music festivals, mountain bike events, ball tournaments, water sports and logger sports. These events that bring people to our community boost our local economy and give local business owners the opportunity to have services available to all residents to enjoy with the visitors.
Once again thanks to the organizers and volunteers to all events that bring people here to enjoy our community.
