'Crave' great, except

EDITOR,

We purchased three tickets and attended the "Crave" fundraiser for the Squamish Helping Hands Society on Saturday night. A needed and very important cause in our community, it was a terrific event. The wine and food pairings were divine and the art and musical performers were great, all of whom volunteered and donated their time and resources. It was a great success. Often in the process of organizing an event like this for the first time, some things may be overlooked. These few are worthy of note in the interest of improving the next production. A lovely printed program was available - kudos and thanks were given to organizing committee, the staff, the restaurants, suppliers, and the Helping Hands volunteers who helped to make the event such a success. Kudos to you all - what you do and have done is fantastic. Nowhere, however, does it mention the visual arts and musical performers who contributed to the magic of the evening, an oversight that I am sure will be addressed in future editions.

One other thing was a disappointment. My partner does not drink alcohol. There were no provisions made for non-alcoholic beverages. This was entirely unexpected, and was a considerable disappointment given the calibre of everything else. In today's environment, provision for non-alcoholic choices at all events needs to be a part of the planning and service. I am confident this will not be overlooked again at future "Craves." To anyone else planning such an event, please take note and provide alternatives for alcohol. Non-drinkers appreciate cultural events as well and they also buy tickets.
