A special evening at St. John's Anglican Church on Saturday (April 13) at 7:30 p.m. will have the Christ Church Cathedral Choir from Vancouver performing. It promises to be a wonderful night when the choir will perform selections from their CD "Earth Teach Me." Tickets at $15 each will be available at the church or online at www.stjohnsquamish.com.

On the Farm Country Market Flower and Garden Shop is selling potted daffodils to benefit the Squamish Hospital Foundation on Saturday and Sunday (April 13 and 14). They will have three different sizes of plants, with a portion of the sales going to the foundation to help fund a pump that is used in administrating pain medication to cancer patients.

The Squamish Environmental Society will meet at the Howe Sound Inn and Brew Pub on Sunday (April 14) at 7 a.m. for the monthly bird count. The group expects to see approximately 65 species of birds in this area. For more information, please call Judith at (604) 892-3340.

Hats off to Between Shifts Theatre's performances of the well-loved play Calendar Girls. I have been to many plays presented by Between Shifts but this one was the best ever!

The next distribution day for the Squamish Food Bank is Wednesday (April 17) from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Alano Club on Third Avenue.

Also on April 17 at 2 p.m. the monthly birthday gathering at Hilltop House will honour Richard Pierre, Kathleen Nelson, Joe Ronayne, Isabelle McLaughlin, Max Kast and Peggy Skingle.

The Squamish Public Library and Quest University Canada Lecture Series continues on Thursday (April 18) at the library from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Dr. Ryan Derby-Talbot will speak on "What is the Role of Intuition in Mathematics?" Can mathematics be surprising/can it be creative? Plan on attending and find out!

It will be a St. George's Day theme for the monthly luncheon at the Seniors Centre on Thursday (April 25) at 11:45 a.m. There are two more sessions of one-on-one computer tutoring on Wednesdays (April 17) and 24 from 1 to 3 p.m.

The Howe Sound Drama Club was founded in the early 1960s by Doreen Ramus and the club was active until the 1990s. One of the first major productions was Aladdin starring Al McIntosh and the late Audrey Owens in 1966. A display and selection of photos is now at the Squamish Public Library with more to come in the future. If bingo is your game, plan on being at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #277 on Monday (April 15) with doors open at 5:30 p.m.

Members of the Women's Auxiliary to the Squamish General Hospital will be selling raffle tickets at Nesters Market tomorrow (April 12) and at Wal-Mart on Saturday (April 13) for the spring raffle on May 10.
