DOS 'out of control'

EDITOR,

Seeing the paper and reading and seeing the headlines of a tax increase of over 10 per cent, I thought it must be joke. Certainly this council would never accept this. It is time our council rolled up their sleeves and dealt with municipal business and not spend their time patting each other on the back and spending time on matters that really has little or no benefit to the community. How much time has been squandered on Oceanfront development, an exercise facility and on and on and meanwhile the municipal business is out of control. The people who are asked to cut are the very people who need to be cut. We don't need to cut works employees when 10 managers could be cut and a savings of $2 million could be had. A bureaucracy has been built for an activity level we might not see again for 15 or 20 years. If council cannot find the savings without cutting library hours or the civic centre, I guess we need a new council. A few of them are way over their heads, anyway.
