Egg hunters revving their engines

Rain or shine, the popular bunny will be on hand to greet all the youngsters as they hunt for those elusive, tasty eggs! Another fun event is planned at the Britannia Mine Museum on March 31 with an Easter Dinosaur Egg Hunt at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m., and the dinosaur is looking forward to meeting all the eager boys and girls. Regular admission will apply for this event.

The Alzheimer Society of British Columbia is holding an informative workshop reviewing some basic information about dementia and its impact. Understanding Dementia is planned on Thursday (April 4) from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Squamish Public Library. Participants will learn about the difference between Alzheimer's disease and dementia, and examine some common myths about the disease. The free workshop will also provide an overview of the brain changes associated with the disease.

The Squamish Valley Quilters will meet on Wednesday (April 3) for a social sew day from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the Sandman Hotel. Take along a lunch and then plan on joining others for dinner before the evening meeting at 7 p.m. New members are always welcome and for more information, please call (604) 898-1431.

Opening night for the much-anticipated play Calendar Girls is tonight (Thursday, March 28) at 8 p.m. in the Eagle Eye Theatre. The other dates include Saturday (March 30) and next week from Wednesday to Saturday (April 3 to 6). Tickets are available at $20 for adults and $15 for seniors and students at Billie's Flower House and Two Birds Eatery.

The Squamish Food Bank will distribute groceries at the Alano Club on Third Avenue on Wednesday (April 3) from 11: a.m. to 1 p.m.

Songs for the Earth Sea and Sky will feature the national award-winning Christ Church Cathedral Choir from Vancouver in a concert presented by St. John's Anglican Church and the 100th Anniversary Centennial Committee. The date is Saturday (April 13) at 7:30 p.m. in St. John's Church. Tickets are available at the church at $15 or online at www.stjohnsquamish.com.

The Great Train Robbery event takes place at the West Coast Railway Heritage Park on Saturday, April 6. The evening includes local actors in a theatre presentation and those on the train will help solve the mystery. The cost is $75 and includes dinner, dessert and drinks. The art classes tailored to beginner artists and those with limited access to supplies will hold its first class on Saturday, April 6, and each Saturday until May 4. The instructor is Toby Jaxon, the cost is $50 and the course will be held at the Seniors Centre.

A beginner-level Spanish program focused on the practical use of the Spanish language will also be held at the Seniors Centre starting Thursday (April 4) and each week until May 23 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. The fee is $128 plus tax.

Brennan Park Recreation Centre will have public skating tomorrow (Friday, March 29) and Monday (April 1) from 12:30 to 3 p.m.

I will have more information next week, but please note the Sea to Sky Women's Health Network is sponsoring an evening entitled Consumed with Weight Loss. It will be held in the Squamish Public Library on Thursday, April 11, at 6:30 p.m.
