Editor,

Re: "Lyme advice a disservice," The Chief, Aug. 21.

I have been a patient of Dr. Ashley Gordon since 2006, and find Jim Wilson's attempt of character assassination extremely distasteful. Dr. Gordon is a highly ethical, knowledgeable and caring doctor.

Her passion to help people attain and maintain a healthy quality of life is of the highest degree. Two of the doctors mentioned in the previous article are in their 80s now, and what a wealth of knowledge and experience they hold.

Dr. Gordon helped me to prepare for and successfully recover from, not one, but two surgeries, so I know her dedication.

Also, I would have thought that the President of the Canadian Lyme Disease Foundation would have been more professional than to use a public forum (like a letter to the editor) in an attempt to discredit a doctor, who by the way, on a daily basis, has more than one disease to treat.

One thing is clear. Lyme can be a killer. My cousin has had Lyme for over 20 years. I have seen its devastation.

Is it too much to ask that the name-calling end, Mr. Wilson?

More information on Lyme needs to be brought to the attention of these busy doctors, and to the public. Living in the heart of Lyme country
