Exasperated by The Chief

“It seems there may have been medical conditions exasperated by the drugs”...

“It seems there may have been medical conditions exasperated by the drugs”...really? Are you sure Rebecca didn’t mean “exacerbated by the drugs” in her report about a suspected overdose in the October 2, 2014, edition of The Squamish Chief? I love The Chief. I find it to be a colourful, informative, up-to-date local newspaper, and I look forward to reading each new edition Thursday after lunch. However, as a retired communications manager and English teacher, I cringe over the number of mistakes in grammar and word choice that I come across every week. I usually just sigh hugely and read on, but the misuse of exasperated this week was too much; in fact, it was exasperating. So, I had to comment publicly. With all of the awards The Squamish Chief regularly wins for excellence as a community newspaper, surely you can afford to hire a good editor to actually proofread the galleys before the paper goes to print, eh?
