There will be a presentation by Clair Gram, Vancouver Coastal Health Population Health Policy Consultant and it will take place at the Squamish Public Library on Wednesday (Feb. 23) from 10 a.m. to noon. Katie Pease, a Squamish CAN (Climate Action Network) food group representative, will discuss the development of outcomes for the proposed Squamish Food Charter.

You are invited to come and share your ideas for a vibrant food system in Squamish. This is an opportunity to have informal discussions, build networks and contribute to the health of our community. The monthly meeting of the Squamish Gardeners will be held on Monday (Feb. 21) at 6:45 p.m. at the West Coast Railway Heritage Park. There will be a brief tour of the new CN Roundhouse and Conference Centre. Brian Campbell of West Coast Seeds will be the guest speaker. Non-members are welcome for a $5 fee.

Everyone is invited to the Family Pancake Breakfast at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #277 on Sunday (Feb. 20) from 8 to 11 a.m. The menu includes pancakes, eggs, ham, sausage and coffee or juice and the regular price is $5 each or $7 for the hungry man's breakfast.

The Evening Book Club at the Squamish Public Library will meet on Thursday (Feb. 24) from 7 to 8 p.m. to discuss the novel The Story of Edgar Sawtelle by David Wroblewski. If you have read the book, you are welcome to attend.

The Squamish Historical Society invites you to the meat draw at the Royal Canadian Legion tonight (Feb. 18) at 7 p.m.

It is soup-and-sandwich day at the Seniors Centre on Thursday (Feb. 24) at noon and all seniors are invited. Pick up your tickets at $9 for members and $10.50 for non-members. Stay awhile and take in a few games of bingo starting at 1 p.m.

An income tax information session is scheduled for 1 p.m. as well.

Bus trips have been cancelled for seniors as all performances for Cirque du Soleil and Riverdance have been sold out. The River Rock Casino trip on March 31 is still on and the deadline for booking a seat is Feb. 27. To do so, please call Elaine at (604) 898-5463.

The B.C. Rail Pioneers are planning a bus trip to Wendover, Nev., from April 3 to 9 which includes a one-day bus trip to Salt Lake City. There is still room on the bus and anyone interested is asked to call Gordon Turnquist at (604) 892-3252 by March 1. The cost is $399 per person.

The Rotary Club Lottery winners for March are: Barb Grelson ($100), Jody Escott and Jim Mulholland ($120), Doug Boyd ($130). The Early Bird draw winners for the 2011-12 series were: No. 15 Heidi Harvey, No. 56 Christine Barr and No. 58 Mike Chapman, all winning $100 each. The next and final draw of the 2010-11 series will take place on March 3 at the Howe Sound Inn.
