EDITOR,
Re. "Town-wide fireworks ban eyed," Chief, Feb. 13.
Really! It seems like some of our council members and the fire chief need a reminder of the joy that fireworks can bring to both children and the young at heart. Registration and old-fashioned parental supervision aside a blanket ban on fireworks seems like a short-sighted, knee-jerk response to a problem that doesn't exist. Surely the council's time and our tax dollars can be better spent addressing issues that actually affect our community -better policing at Shannon Falls/job stimulation/sustainable development to name just a few. I, for one, would be greatly disappointed if in the future my children didn't have the opportunity to enjoy home based fireworks displays, let's focus on issues that really matter. Thanks, Bryan Raiser, for once again being the voice of reason in this matter.
