As a resident of Squamish, I am strongly opposed to the development of Garibaldi at Squamish ["Council divided over GAS," The Chief, Sept. 11].
The proposed land is an ecological treasure and the development proposal is contrary to the nature and character of Squamish.
Locals and people from far and wide enjoy participating in the many free sporting activities that don't disrupt the natural balance and beauty of the area.
GAS will forever change the entire area for the general population in favour of a somewhat elite group new to the area that already has access to three ski areas in Metro Vancouver and Whistler-Blackcomb.
