The yearly Friends of the Library Book sale is this weekend on Saturday (April 5) from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Sunday (April 6) from noon to 3 p.m. in the Squamish Public Library. Paperback books in good condition are being accepted for the sale.

Tonight (Thursday, April 3) is also opening night for Between Shifts Theatre’s performance of The Glass Menagerie at the Eagle Eye Theatre. Other dates are Friday and Saturday (April 4 and 5) and next week from April 10 to 12. The Squamish Public Library and Quest University lecture series continues on Thursday (April 10) at 6:30 p.m., when Dr. Rob Knop will speak on “The Hunt for Planets in Our Galaxy.” Dr. Knop will talk about the history of our knowledge of planets in the universe, focusing on how we’ve discovered planets outside of our solar system both using ground-based telescopes and using the Kepler satellite.

Squamish Academy of Music (SAM) and the Howe Sound Performing Arts Association are proud to have Scott Verbeek at their next coffee Concert. Come listen to some sultry jazz guitar, modern tunes and some golden oldies. The performance starts at 3:30 on Saturday (April 5) at SAM on Second Avenue. Admission is by donation and all monies will be going toward the Access Music Education program that supports young people to achieve their music goals.
