Gym idea opposed

EDITOR,

I would like to state my position that I 100 per cent disapprove of millions of my tax money going to invest in a new gym. With taxes going up, there are all ready workout rooms that will be in direct competition. Why is this a priority when we have so many infrastructure needs? I live in Brackendale and I cannot say how many ditches are not working and cracks are in the pavement.

Money is way better invested in keeping up the facilityas it is. If we want to create real long-term revenue, I would prefer we take $500,000 and do an education and media promotion blitz to the rest of Canada and the world that we are open for high-tech business. The bottom-line question in this low economic time is: Is Squamish lacking any gyms? How many of Squamish's 15,000 will use it? Is it really a good idea to go intocompetitionwithexistingbusiness at this time?

Istrongly feel like this is a vocal minority that wants to spend millions on a new gym. I own a home and would rather have less taxes so I have more money so I can pay to go to an existing facilityand give the local economy more of a boost.
