Happy gondola vollie

I have lived in Squamish for almost two years and after moving to semi-retire I decided, along with my wife Antje, to look for voluntary avenues to fill our time as well as add to the community that we now call home.

I have lived in Squamish for almost two years and after moving to semi-retire I decided, along with my wife Antje, to look for voluntary avenues to fill our time as well as add to the community that we now call home. We both volunteer at Squamish Elementary School, the Callaghan ski area and I volunteer as a manager for one of the boys hockey teams.

This year we decided to apply as volunteers for the Sea to Sky Gondola and were selected to become volunteers at this great venue. Both Antje and I participated in the opening day celebrations and since that date, have assisted in greeting and introducing visitors to Squamish and to our great outdoor attraction. From my point of view, the most enjoyable part of our efforts is to meet and greet visitors from all over the world to out great town and the newest attraction. I have met visitors from England, Australia, Germany, the U.S., Ireland, Scotland, Japan, and China and many other countries. It has been a comforting feeling to assist others and help them enjoy the gondola and all it has to offer.

After our visitors enjoy all that the gondola has to offer, it is interesting to see their faces and to hear their comments on just how enjoyable their experience has been. That in itself is a volunteer’s reward for assisting here in Squamish.

Having “worked” on the gondola I can freely say the people, the visitors, and the venue, are first class and all of us in Squamish should be very proud and very supportive of what the gondola and that venue brings to us all.

I am sure if you have time to volunteer you will also enjoy the venue, and the people, at the gondola.
