Squamish's new tagline "Hardwired for Adventure" is an epic failure. Today's technology is based around the freedom of wireless connections. A whole generation of people have grown up feeling that wired connections are old, slow, and tired. "Hardwired" also implies a severely restricted ability to change and adapt. The new tagline proves again that although Squamish is rightfully proud of its culture of outdoor recreation, it simply cannot figure out whether to continue to live in the past as a former resource-based economy, or whether it should instead embrace the inevitable changes that the future promises to bring.
