Hazardous, indeed

EDITOR, I wanted to respond to Coun.

EDITOR,

I wanted to respond to Coun. Corinne Lonsdale's question why Skyline Drive wasn't highlighted as an area to improve among the "safe routes to school" outline and thank her for her not forgetting this initiative ("Skyline Drive hazardous for pedestrians: Lonsdale," Chief, Sept. 16). I have both seen and experienced major safety concerns with Skyline Drive. Between animals being struck and killed, speeding cars skidding behind me as I attempt to back out of my driveway, cars passing in the other lane because they won't go the posted speed limit and having inattentive drivers drift into the "sidewalk," almost hitting my kids as I walk them to school.

I have emailed the District of Squamish requesting a copy of the "speed bump study" and have had no response. The speed bumps in the middle of Skyline have only cause an increase of drivers' speed at the bottom and top of the Skyline.
