This letter was sent to Squamish Nation chief and council and copied to The Chief for publication.
Squamish Nation policies are set up for only children living on reserve, in regards to education for preschool ages.
I hope we can find a solution for my grandson as he is all geared up to start preschool next week, like any child.
You all know how that feels - very exciting to see a young one going to school for the first time.
It is impossible for some to live on reserve as there are not enough houses for our reserves in the Squamish Valley or North Vancouver.
So how do you expect young ones to go to school if there is not enough housing for everyone?
If we cannot get any funding from the Squamish Nation what next?
I will start looking for donations and setting up accounts for our young ones who want to go to school and do not live on reserve, but supposedly get "all the benefits" like anyone who lives on reserve - or so they say.
My daughter went to a council meeting but because of your policies you can't help her with funding for the preschool she has in mind for her son.
So what solutions do you Chief and council have for our young ones' education? They need your help.
I'm speaking for my grandson Oscar Gabriel and other children who live off reserve.
