EDITOR,

Re. Weekend crash on Highway 99.

Crazy that your publication/website in my opinion doesnothing to push this death corner issue by, for example, hammering it out in article after article. In the U.K. this would have been almost certainlyfixed two years ago. In the U.S., lawyers would probably be picking up juicy settlement fees on behalf of their $10 million lawsuits against the federal highways board. Meanwhile, deaths, injuries, endless ruined lives, ruined vacations, ruined weddings, medical deaths due to a road closure, missed flights, missed work, missed deals.

So how much is a life or a serious injury worth? How many more RCMP investigations on the exact same piece of road? It's a fricking dangerous corner when heading north. It's got nothing to do with speed other than you should crawl. But not everybody is born with a brain that keeps you focused on every sign. You cannot have a great road and then suddenly - bam, a "possible"engineering "faux pas" "blunder" half mile, and expect it all to be great.

This whole section of road surely needs widening urgently, and yes, it's going to cost $50 million to do it properly, or maybe $10 million for ashort-term fix. It's just this single section of roadtime after time.

Please just help through your powers to push the bean counters to get on withapproving a widened road.
