Homeless shelter exactly what we need

Some unsubstantiated accusations have been made and one or two may be correct. If these accusations were reported to the police they could be legitimate, if not, then they hold no value and cannot be accepted as correct.

This proposal by the B.C. Housing initiative to expand the Helping Hands homeless drop-in centre to a four-story shelter for the "hard to house" population, is exactly what is needed in our community, to help the homeless to a better life. The provincial government and our municipal council are to be complimented and thanked for "spoon-feeding" this proposal. The Helping Hands Society chair Dennis Bartlett and the people who work there, say that crime is down in the area.

The HHS can always use more money to keep up their good work, so I would ask those who complain about this facility, have they ever made a financial contribution to it? Have they ever been in this facility to see what takes place therein? I'm sure the staff would be only too pleased to show the inner everyday workings of their facility to you.

Indeed, it is our responsibility as citizens to take care of the indigent and less fortunate citizens within our community. Let's not be so quick to complain about this humane and good work.
