Tamsyn Jenkins, Squamish Hospital Foundation (SHF) administrator, said the fundraiser will help with future maternity ward equipment needs and support family health in the Vancouver Coastal Health clinic in Squamish. If you or your children were born in the current hospital or the old hospital, consider purchasing a small leaf at $25 each or a larger leaf at $50, and small animals cost $100, with larger ones at $200. Your request with names and birthdates along with a cheques for the item(s) you wish can be mailed to the Squamish Hospital Foundation, P.O. Box 763, Garibaldi Highlands, V0N 1T0. Order forms are also available at the hospital and from medical clinics. The Squamish Quilter's Guild is pleased to have textile artist Kirsten Chursinoff as guest host at its next gathering on Wednesday (March 5) at 7 p.m. in the Sandman Hotel when she will present a slideshow detailing her techniques working with fibres and colours. Non-members are welcome for a $5 charge at the door. The regular sew day at the hotel is from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and guests are most welcome to attend. On Wednesday (March 5) the Squamish Food Bank will open its doors for grocery distribution from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Alano Club on Third Avenue.

The monthly Acoustic Jam will be held at the Brackendale Art Gallery on Sunday (March 2) from 7:30 to 10 p.m. Rick Morgan has taken over this monthly get-together from Rita Kyle and he hopes you will come and "jam" or enjoy the musical talents of others.

St. John's Anglican Church is hosting the World Day of Prayer service in Squamish on Friday (March 7) at 7 p.m. The service was written by the women of Egypt this year and you are invited to participate when the theme will be Streams in the Desert. This ecumenical day of prayer was organized by women in Canada and the United States in 1920 and became the World Day of Prayer in 1922.

There is a night of bingo at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #277 on Monday (March 3) with doors open at 5:30 p.m.

If you want to brighten your Saturdays, consider attending Laughter Yoga at 3 p.m. each Saturday at the Squamish Seniors Centre. A Better at Home Volunteer information meeting will be held on Tuesday (March 4) at 1 p.m. Those involved will help seniors remain in their homes longer with a little help in a number of ways.

A special program is planned at the Squamish Public Library on Thursday (March 6) at 6:30 p.m. Pictures and stories of Squamish 100 years ago will be presented by Eric Andersen, Trevor Mills, Arthur Harry and Glenne Campbell.

Rhythmic gymnastics is now offered to the children at the Squamish Seniors Centre and Level 1 for six to eight year olds is each Tuesday from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. and Level 2 for nine to 12 year olds is also held on Tuesdays from 4:45 to 5:45 p.m. The cost for each session is $80. The instructor is Kriszti Richteme, who incorporates graceful movements using ribbons, balls, ropes, scarves and hoops. Join Squamish Academy of Music (SAM) and the Howe Sound Performing Arts Association for a 40-minute family concert featuring the Tantalus Chamber Ensemble with chamber music for all ages on Saturday (March 1) at 3:30 p.m. at SAM, 38121 Second Ave. Admission is by donation to Access Music Education.
