I am writing to respond to Mr. Paul Fletcher's letter that appeared in the June 10 edition of the Chief.
It is truly unfortunate that Mr. Fletcher feels that the work that Between Shifts has been doing has been under recognized.
Between Shifts has been putting on first rate productions since I was a young person in Squamish, and their contribution to the community should not go unnoticed.
I am sure nobody in particular is to blame - especially not the staff of The Chief, who have the daunting task of putting together a quality newspaper weekly with a small staff of dedicated workers.
I understand his frustration as numerous times while producing, directing or acting in a show in Vancouver I often hope to find more coverage than I actually do.
It is unfortunate too that Mr. Fletcher feels that the information on Broadway or Bust was the reason for the lack of information about the All For One evening of plays.
Being back in Squamish to direct these past six months has been a wonderful experience and one I have treasured. It is amazing to see just how much the arts have grown here.
With productions from groups such as MKH Productions, Howe Sound Performing Arts, Howe Sound Secondary School, Don Ross Secondary and of course, Between Shifts, it is easy to see why the arts in the community are flourishing.
There is room for everybody at the table, and I have enjoyed working with several groups over the past few months and hope to continue to be a part of the arts in this town as much as I possibly can.
I hope Mr. Fletcher realizes that even without an abundance of media coverage there are a lot of people who appreciate the work that Between Shifts puts into making dramatic theatre available for those in the Sea-To-Sky Corridor.
