For budding musicians and singers, the 14th annual Howe Sound Music Festival taking place this week has been their chance to showcase their talents. The closing concert “Three’s Company” will be held at St. John’s Anglican Church on Saturday (April 12) at 7:30 p.m.
Featured will be vocalists Joani Bye and Jan Warren and classically trained pianist Dave Pickell. On Sunday (April 13) at 3 p.m. the Highlights Concert will feature “gold” level performers chosen during the festival.
Tickets for the closing concerts are $20 for adults and $10 for students. For more information, check www.howesoundarts.ca.

Cardio Core and Power Pump classes begin at the Squamish Seniors Centre on Monday (April 14) at 7 p.m. The monthly luncheon on Thursday (April 24) will have an Easter theme. Tickets are now on sale at $9 for members and $10 for non-members.

Residents of the Eagle Grove seniors complex celebrated the 100th anniversary of Squamish with a Heritage Tea on Sunday (April 6).
The ladies who organized the tea were Shirley Brown, Yvonne Ramage, Diane Normandin, Wendy Sellers, Karen Reynolds, Janet Duplissie and Frankie Ferguson. The community room was filled with memorabilia including photos, clothing, dishes, lamps, cookbooks and more.

How thrilling it must be for nine-year-old Lucy Gill, who attends Brackendale Elementary School, to land a starring role in the Royal City Musical Theatre’s production of Annie. I’m sure many of her fellow students, family and friends and those who like great musicals will want to be in the audience for shows starting tonight until April 26 at the Massey Theatre in New Westminster. Way to go Lucy!

The Women’s Auxiliary to Squamish General Hospital will be selling raffle tickets for the annual Spring Mother’s Day draw tomorrow (Friday, April 11) at Wal-Mart and at Nesters Market on Saturday (April 12). The cash prizes for the raffle are: $250, $125 and $100. Tickets are also available at the Gift Shop at the hospital.

It is three weeks away, but not too early to mention the annual Hike for Hospice that will be held on Sunday (May 4). The Squamish Hospice Society receives no ongoing health care or government funding, but is supported by the Rotary Club of Squamish.
