The Squamish Climate Action Network (CAN) has a movie night planned at the Squamish Seniors Centre tonight (Thursday, March 20) from 7 to 9 p.m. The name of the movie is "Bag It" and the theme, appropriately is, "Is your life too plastic?" Refreshments will be served, but you are asked to take along your own mug.

It is spring break for schools in our province and what better way to enjoy it than by visiting the West Coast Railway Heritage Park any day starting today (March 20 to 23) and next week from March 27 to 29. The big attraction is the Dinosaur Train that takes you to a special location to dig for fossils and search for dinosaur bones. The kids will love to meet Buddy, the popular T-Rex-inspired character from the show. Tickets are now on sale at the park or online at www.wcra.org for $27 each. It is suggested train riders arrive at the park 30 minutes before the train departs.

Mexi-can Vet Project is a Jaltemba Bay Animal Rescue fundraiser planned at Bosley's Pet Food store at 1200 Hunter Pl. on Sunday (March 23) from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Your support will help support a free sterilization clinic in Mexico for cats and dogs. This will help prevent hundreds of unwanted animals. The Canadian Veterinary Team is ready to help the cause.

The Squamish Public Library is hosting a Wii event for school-aged children on Wednesday (March 26) from 2 to 4 p.m. Please register for the free event by calling the library at (604) 892-3110 or drop by to register.

The St. Patrick's Day theme luncheon at the Squamish Seniors Centre on Thursday (March 27) has shepherd's pie, salad and Guinness chocolate cake on the menu. The deadline for purchasing tickets is Wednesday (March 27) at $9 for members and $10 for non-members. Nancy Warwick from the Squamish Library always has a selection of books on display for seniors to check out.

The Squamish Hospice Society is again offering a Courage to Grieve Bereavement Support Group for those grieving the loss of a loved one. The weekly gatherings will be held on Wednesdays from March 26 to April 30 from 7 to 9 p.m. in the hospice office at 38140 Behrner Drive (small building next to Hilltop House). Another activity youngsters might be interested in during spring break is a visit to the Britannia Mine Museum. A fascinating and fun Lego display is sure to interest all ages and includes a scavenger hunt using small Lego figures. If you are able to find at least 14 of the 20 items you will be entered for a chance to win a Lego prize. The Lego exhibit will be at the mine until April 6 and if you wish more information, please visit www.britanniaminemuseum.ca.

Computer tutoring for older adults and seniors is being offered at the Squamish Seniors Centre with tutoring in English on Wednesdays from 1 to 4 p.m. Tutoring in Punjabi and English begins Wednesday (April 2) and every other Wednesday from 2 to 4 p.m. in the Brennan Park Recreation Centre. The Over the Hill Hikers will meet at the top of Perth in Garibaldi Highlands on Tuesday (March 25) at 9 a.m. for an Icy Hole of Death hike. For more information, call Heather at (604) 892-9003.
