I was disappointed to read in last week's Chief about council's decision to continue processing Holiday Inn's application to remove trees between the hotel and the highway.
Trees buffering our highway from the Business Park enhance the Squamish experience for both visitors and residents. Businesses don't need to be seen from the highway to draw traffic.
Think of all the successful businesses that don't have highway frontage. Effective highway signage at the entrance to the business park, in a similar way to what Wal Mart and Home Depot have done, is a much more attractive way of creating visibility.
Keeping the tree buffer will reflect well on our town's approach to development, and that is good for business and Squamish.
