EDITOR,
Re. "Garibladi Springs Park donation eyed," Chief, May 20.
I would like to commend Doug Day on his proposed 100-acre parkland donation. I won't pretend to know the details of the swap for re-zoning but if it checks out, this is precisely the sort of altruistic and community-oriented gesture that all developers should be considering when approaching council. At first blush I can't imagine how such a deal could not be structured to benefit all, unlike a similar effort recently presented for the Mamquam Blind Channel. I understand that Bob Fast has been entertaining similar ideas regarding his vast holdings above Valleycliffe and in Crumpit Woods. When his land gets developed I hope he avoids a Coquitlam scorched-earth style of development with just such a win/win concept.
I would also like to commend Meagan Robertson on her "Slut Walk" column. I think she deftly cut through the bull and got right to the heart of the problem. Thanks.Bruce Kay
