Should Olden Squamish be forgot and never brought to mind?
A river vortex rife with life, a lush land lost in time,
Of virulent forests fair, and wildlife there, a valley rich and so sublime!
Long have we hiked, rode trails, skied slopes, oh tripped the wire so fine,
Hard-core kindred friends we’ll love till the end, in days of old lang syne!
Yea, take a trip down memory lane and tell the truth in kind.
Should old forgotten deals be done and past debts out of mind,
Resources bartered, bought and spent, then never brought to aught,
Should schemes and themes, rash developments, and brains all in a bind
O’ scams and flams, endless tests and experiments, all be brought to naught.
Forget the blues, hear the news, tho’ of words too much to bear!
Head in the sand, ears covered yet, for deeds too harsh to hear!
Who are they, who knows who, and who knows what is what?
Forgive those guys! Yes, who thought otherwise to industrialize
Jeopardize our legacy, our very breath, our life force and very lives!
Our Oceanfront land that stands alone in wind and rain and shine,
Beloved of those old friendly souls who value what is thine own and mine
This land is ours! Love and recognize the prize!
A treasure trove for everyone to find, this old industrial ark
A blessing for all humankind, our shining valley park!
Blessings and Happy New Year!
