Letter: Build wildlife bridges for elk

I have been coming to Squamish for recreation for 50 years, and I applaud the efforts by the province to reintroduce elk. But so many cars now pass by and so fast they are like bullets to the elk, which are always on the move.

I have been coming to Squamish for recreation for 50 years, and I applaud the efforts by the province to reintroduce elk. But so many cars now pass by and so fast they are like bullets to the elk, which are always on the move.
The only way to resolve this is by building wildlife bridges as they have done in Banff.
This will cost money, but such an investment would produce great economic returns over the next 100 years as the elk are seen increasingly by tourists and residents alike. The deer and bear also desperately need the protection of these bridges.
Returning the elk is a huge key to making the valley whole again they have been here for untold centuries.
