It is great to see attention to the economic development and jobs potential in forestry and wood.
Not only are there wood companies that want to come here. We are already here!
As a rapidly growing value-added wood manufacturing company, we have a handicap that the District of Squamish’s new economic strategy and Official Community Plan can help us with: We lack a secure land base for wood manufacturing. The business park is not a solution for us.
Wood manufacturing is not necessarily “light industrial,” but more “medium industrial.”
Attention to land use planning for our type of industry on the part of the district would be very welcome.
