Squamish Highway is not made for bicycles, yet some do it anyway in spite of the hazard. This is not a reason to close the highway to cars in order to have the RBC GranFondo Whistler.
A promise to initiate traffic control is nothing new and was never effective. However the promised $2,500 does not fix that improper blockade.
As in the past, it still restricts local traffic from driving around in their own town. And for many hours cars normally driving south to Vancouver in the morning hours cannot do it.
This event needs to be cancelled.
