Letter: Compressor stations are quiet

I just read your article on the site choice for the compressor station, “FortisBC picks compressor site near Valleycliffe” (May 12). I live in Valleycliffe and have no problem with a compressor station on Mount Mulligan.

I live in Valleycliffe and have no problem with a compressor station on Mount Mulligan. There is a compressor station similar in design to the proposed station for Mount Mulligan in Coquitlam. In fact, most residents of the exclusive Eagle Mountain subdivision probably don’t know of its existence.

Every day, you can see hikers, dog walkers, dirt bike riders and mountain bike riders in the trails around the station, not unlike Squamish. There are more people living closer to the Eagle Mountain site than will ever live around the Mount Mulligan site.

I suspect most of Valleycliffe did not take advantage of a free bus ride to the Coquitlam Station to really understand what a compressor station is. If they had, they would have seen a very safe, clean work site. The sound of the compressor is loud inside the building; however, a barely audible hum is all you hear in the vicinity.
