I can never comprehend what goes on in people’s minds that makes them drive well out of their way down poorly graded gravel roads and then dump the most atrocious things beside sensitive habitat!

On Saturday, we found this stockpile of buckets of diesel, fuel, lubricant, garbage and any number of extremely toxic materials dumped right beside a salmon-bearing tidal channel in the estuary just around the corner from Bailey Street (see photo above).

Fortunately we were able to retrieve the garbage before any of it spilled into the channel and take the buckets and containers of oil to Carney’s for safe disposal (a huge shout out to the staff at Carney’s for your help). For anyone who sees garbage (or worse) being dumped please call the provincial RAPP hotline: 1-877-952-7277 or #7277 on your Telus mobile phone. And shame on anyone who thinks it’s OK to dump any type of garbage. Let’s put garbage in it’s place and keep Squamish clean and safe!
