Letter: Hats off to the crew of Noises Off

“Broken legs” to the director, stage manager, cast and crew of Noises Off. This is an extremely challenging play to attempt, and it’s a wonder all legs were not broken as the pace escalated to near frenzy at the end.

“Broken legs” to the director, stage manager, cast and crew of Noises Off. This is an extremely challenging play to attempt, and it’s a wonder all legs were not broken as the pace escalated to near frenzy at the end. Hats off to the director pulling off this play with its seven doors and nine actors. These actors were superb and completely in unison with each other, which was a must. Well done!
Never underestimate the stage manager and backstage crew, who get so little recognition. The sets had to be constructed at the Railway Museum and set up on stage the night of the dress rehearsal, where the cast members had to quickly learn their entrances and exits after rehearsing elsewhere. Then the set was completely turned around after the first and again the second act.
No one missed a beat. You all must be commended. You all deserve full houses.
Oh, and for a theatre of our own where sets can be constructed and left on site and where rehearsal can be conducted under one roof, where props may be left overnight and where lighting and sound techs can hone their skills more easily. Will that day ever come? I sincerely hope so.
