Huge thanks to our volunteer firefighters. The recent events have been a true test of bravery, tremendous courage and true dedication to the people of Squamish and to our town and our homes. The pier fire is the biggest fire this town has ever seen.
These men and women stopped their lives and rode down to a toxic nightmare. It’s for free – they do not get paid.
They risk their lives every day there is a fire. Their jobs are put on hold and their families sit and worry about whether they will come home safe.
I’m sure I speak for many in this town to say thank you for your service and bravery. I have lived here 30 years now, and you men and women never cease to amaze me with your courage.
