Letter: Let's cancel the $30,000 consultant fee

Re: “Plotting for the future” (Dec. 31) about spending $30,000 for consultants to study the remediation and expansion of the cemetery. Municipal staff should be competent enough to sort this out without consultants.

Municipal staff should be competent enough to sort this out without consultants. There might even be less expensive local talent from interested groups and retirees. In the event of some errors – which are also possible with consultants – it is hoped that council would be lenient.

During the municipal election, there was some talk about using fewer consultants. I suggest that cancelling this $30,000 would be a good start.
