My thanks for your article about the controversy about run-of-river projects, “A river runs through it” (June 2). The views and information provided by a major IPP energy provider, local interest groups, an earth scientist and the Wilderness Committee helped me better understand why local concerns have been running high for the past 10 years. Is it not time for all parties to work together to resolve outstanding concerns such as fish kills, habitat damage and sound water flow control practices?
Perhaps there are unfulfilled business benefits and job opportunities if more facts were made available. The lack of regular habitat audit data that can be correlated with sound power output management practices is a missing vital activity.
Would BC Hydro, our provincial MLA or federal MP be interested in sponsoring this initiative?
