Letter: LNG has catastrophic potential

The EAO’s possible acceptance of FortisBC natural gas line to transport this fracked greenhouse destroying gas to Woodfibre LNG is unacceptable.

The EAO’s possible acceptance of FortisBC natural gas line to transport this fracked greenhouse destroying gas to Woodfibre LNG is unacceptable.

Under the pretense to help China to stop polluting with coal, we are encouraging money-hungry energy companies to do their polluting for the Chinese in our country, then sell it for an envisioned profit that may never occur.

This whole process should be stopped immediately, suspended without any further continuation of the EA process until a credible report is received, allowing an informed decision.

The EAO should also consider the social economic impact to protect the investment of many businesses here now. Potentially future employers may not move to Squamish into the business park, where at present the compressor station is planned.

FortisBC neglects to supply household gas at reasonable price. It is unforgivable to look out for the big corporations and to exploit our natural resources without even looking after the citizens of Canada and their future needs. This national treasure should be shared first with the inhabitants of Canada and not expanded to further endanger the native indigenous people of Canada, for the profit of possible not even Canadian shareholders of a company now proposing the projects.

There was arrogance to contest the will of the people and their elected government, having stopped their potential destruction through the jewel of our Squamish Estuary, which was agreed on so many years ago not to be encroached upon.

There is catastrophic potential of LNG being spilled accidentally into ocean water.
