LETTER: More highway patrol needed

Regarding the front-page article on Lions Bay: I drive the Sea to Sky daily for work and that stretch of the highway has always bothered me. I’ll slow down to 75km/h, and I constantly get passed by cars doing 90.

If I go any slower, that’s actually putting myself in danger. I see the benefits of building a concrete wall but why not profit from the situation? This may be a stupid question, but couldn’t the municipality hire a few full-time highway patrol to sit in that area at all times and ticket speeding drivers? A few tickets a day would pay for the officer’s wages, and people would get the hint fairly quickly. Why spend money instead of hiring people and making money? It just doesn’t make sense to me.
