We don’t know for sure, but there has been talk about a Great Wolf Lodge possibly wanting to come to Squamish. I don’t think this is a good idea.
There are 14 Great Wolf Lodge Resorts around the world and are said to be a fun getaway that doesn’t have to be a stressful experience.
Yes, they’re a lot of fun but what about the environment around all 14 resorts? What about all the people they need to work at one. With all the animals and nature we need to protect them from dying because their homes are being destroyed.
Squamish is only 104.9 km2 and for Great Wolf Lodge they need 12-15 acres of land. Squamish is small and already inhabited by not only people, but animals too. There are so many different animals in Squamish from a bear to a wolf to a little blue bird and everything in between.
Squamish is covered in trees and plants, that’s why we are recognized as one of the most beautiful places on earth, it’s for our gorgeous mountains and views. That’s why it will be pretty hard to find somewhere to put a Great Wolf Lodge in Squamish.
For Great Wolf Lodge, they need 670 workers including 50 at manager-level, you have to go through training not that many people in Squamish have the time to do.
There’s only a certain amount of people in Squamish and what about all their families? Most of them have children or pets that they need to be taken care of or they just have things they need to do around the house like cleaning and having the time to eat and sleep. The Great wolf lodge would create many more jobs, however with the environmental issues it would cause and the people who need to work day and night, I don’t think it’s a good idea.
