LETTER: Say no to LNG

We are advised in the upcoming civic election who and who not to vote for. OK. We are advised not to vote for a candidate who opposes Woodfibre LNG — it is well underway.

Well, as I understand, most Squamish people value greatly all the marine mammals of Howe Sound and our oceans: whales, dolphins, salmon, shrimp.

Then it follows that unlikely spills aside, WLNG will be a great asset for revenue.

Nobody is considering the several studies that have determined that the accumulation of underwater noise from the considerably increased tanker and tug traffic from all the projects shipping more in our waters, in the Salish Sea, can cause marine life to lose their capability of eco-location — hinder their avoidance of predators and location of their food.

Squamish has to decide which is more important — our marine life or LNG income.
