Thank you The Squamish Chief paper for highlighting the GoFundMe for local-single-mom and community volunteer Murial ‘Mouse’ Hanson (April 26 edition). I have seen a handful of moms really push these donation opportunities to the top of various group Facebook pages and it’s heart-warming to see.
My comment I suppose I wanted to share with the Squamish community is, we can do better.
Being a single mom is tough work, and being a single mom who is also battling cancer is unimaginable to most of us. Murial should not have to worry about making rent, paying bills, and worrying if there’s enough money leftover for food on the table, not when an abundant community is within arms reach.
Let’s do better, lets dig deeper, let’s gift Muriel the opportunity to not have to worry about finances while she faces cancer and continues being a loving role model and mother to her children. “We make a living by what we get. We make a life by what we give” Sir Winston Churchill.
